Map-Extalk 4: "Time Boomerang" with Uudam Tran Nguyen

Fri 20 Oct 2017, 3 – 5 pm
Heritage Space Library

Heritage Space proudly presents MAP-exTalk 4 “TIME BOOMERANG” with a presentation by visual-multimedia artist UuDam Tran Nguyen from Hochiminh city (Vietnam). It is a part of an art experience exchange series in the “Month of Art Practice 2017” organized by Heritage Space.

In the talk, UuDam will share his practical experience in developing artworks, through an example of TIME BOOMERANG currently on view at the Tokyo Contemporary Art Center. This artwork was inspired by the dispute over the East Sea (South China Sea). UuDam started to work on this in 2013. After experimenting and failing times after times, he found his own solution to the problem. This is an ambitious art piece that integrates different materials, can endure for millions of years and parallel performances across all five continents in the world. He demonstrated his artwork for the first time at the Mien Meo Mieng Bildmusset Museum, in which Tran Luong and Le Thuan Uyen served as the curator and curator assistant respectively.

This work has 8 phases. At the SunShower exhibition in NACT, UuDam presented three complete phases: 1st phase, two parts of 2nd phase and 4th phase. He will introduce about Time Boomerang and display some of 6 videos at the SunShower during the talk.
